Edward J. "Snooks" LaPorte

Baldwinville- Edward J. Laporte, “Snooks” 84, of Baldwinville, passed away at home unexpectedly on Friday, January 3, 2014. He was born in Gardner on Sept. 29, 1929, the son of the late Edward A. and Catherine (Whalen) Laporte. Edward graduated from Templeton High School class of 1947. He worked as a papermaker for Seaman Paper Co, in Otter River for 18 years. He then worked for C and M Roughcut Lumber in New Salem for many years. Edward enjoyed gardening, spending time outdoors, and in his younger years, fishing and hunting. He was a founding member of the Otter River Sportsman Club, and a member of the Gardner Fish and Gun Club. He leaves behind one son; Jeffrey Laporte of Otter River, two sisters; Maryann Nurmi of Otter River and Ruth Saven of Athol, one granddaughter which he adored; Lindsay Laporte of Gardner, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held from the Mack Funeral Home 91 Vernon St. Gardner on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 10:00AM-12:00PM. A funeral service will be held immediately following in the funeral home at 12:00pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
