Edward H. Stevens

GARDNER- Edward H. Stevens, 77, of Gardner, died Tuesday, April 25, in Heywood Hospital. He was born October 9, 1939, in Cambridge, son of the late Suren and Artemis (Tomassian) Stevens. He was very proud of his Armenian heritage. Mr. Stevens received his B. S. in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University and his graduate degree from Northeastern. He was in his 51st year of teaching at Mount Wachusett Community College. Mr. Stevens was very active and enjoyed playing tennis, piano, skiing, running, hiking, weight lifting, gardening, spending time at the beach, especially at Cape Cod, day trips with his wife, the White Mountains, his pets, meteorology, and teaching. A lifelong learner, Mr. Stevens continued to take classes throughout his life. Above all, he loved his family. He was an Eagle Scout and was a Boy Scout Leader for his sons' troops. He was a member of the 4,000 Footer Club, the Board of Trustees at the First Congregational Church of Gardner, and the Republican Town Committee in Gardner. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Alexandria "Sandy" Stevens; two sons, Wayne E. Stevens of Gardner, and Gary E. Stevens and his wife, Lori of Rindge, NH; one daughter, Julie A. Allen and her husband, Shane of West Hartford, CT; three grandchildren, Ashley A. Stevens, Joshua T.E. Stevens, and Alexandria J. Allen; one sister-in-law, Adelia Ashton of Gardner; one niece, Rebecca Abate and her husband, Scott; several cousins; and his beloved pets, Kennedy and Squeaky. He was predeceased by his brother, David Stevens. A Calling hour will be held Saturday, April 29, from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. with the Funeral starting at 11:00 A.M. in the First Congregational Church, 28 Green St., Gardner. Burial will follow in Crystal Lake Cemetery in Gardner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe made to the Edward H. Stevens Scholarship Fund, Mount Wachusett Community College, 444 Green St., Gardner, MA 01440, or to the Memorial Fund at First Congregational Church, 28 Green St., Gardner, MA 01440, or to Project Save Armenian Photograph Archives, P.O.
