ATHOL - Edward R. Theroux, 87 of 502 Crescent St., Athol, died Monday, September 19, 2016 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol surrounded by his family.
He was born in Athol, on January 22, 1929, the son of the late Wilfred and the late Alice (Gravlin) Theroux.
He grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked at the First National Grocery Store in Baldwinville for 34 years, and was the Store Manager for seven years. He had also worked at L.S. Starrett Company for 11 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate and was a member of American Legion Post No. 102. He enjoyed skeet shooting, fishing and was an avid wood worker. He especially loved spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 62 years: Beverly J. (Walsh) Theroux, two daughters: Sally A. White and her husband Philip of Tilton, NH, Carol A. Walker and her husband Brian of Athol; one son: Robert E. Theroux and his wife Carol of Hudson, NH; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Dorothy Lanier, Evelyn Carey, Lorraine Wasileski, Joan Theroux.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 23, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 9:30-11:00 am at the funeral home.
