March 7, 1951 — March 12, 2025

Ludlow

Edward W. Freeman, born in Gardner, MA, on March 7, 1951, left us on March 12, 2025. Edward, a man of wit, charm, and a contagious zest for life, was loved by many and will be dearly missed. He resided in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Edward was an extraordinary individual who knew how to find joy in the simple things in life. As a proud US Navy veteran and dedicated postal clerk for 30 years at the Bulk Mail Center in Springfield, MA, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving others.

Edward had an undeniable passion for baseball and was a lifelong New York Yankees fan. He was an avid golfer and an active member of a bowling league. His love for the game was as infectious as his lively personality. In his later years, he found joy in collecting baseball memorabilia, each piece a tribute to his love of the sport. Despite his achievements and passions, what mattered most to Edward was his service to his country and community, which he carried out with unwavering pride and dignity.

Edward leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory. He is survived by his daughter, Kate McGraw, and grandson, Keyshawn Chelte. His fiancé, Kathy Pappas, will miss his companionship and enduring love. His siblings, Lawrence Freeman and his wife April, Carole Schanel and her husband Robert, and Joan Mott and her husband Jeff Kebalka, will remember their brother's kindness and humor. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Edward is preceded in death by a sister, Cynthia Hutchins, and his parents, A. Wallace and Madeline Freeman, who instilled in him the values of service and dedication.

A calling hour will be held from 10 - 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, in the Mack Funeral Home, 105 Central Street, Gardner, MA 01440, with a funeral service to be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Lovewell Cemetery, Rt. 68, Hubbardston, MA.
