ATHOL - Edward Anthony White, 93 of Athol, died Sunday, February 22, 2015 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol.
He was born in Athol, on November 27, 1921, the son of the late Waclou J. and the late Flora (Gasiliouskinte) White.
He was a lifelong resident of Athol - resided on Sanders St. for 8 years and has lived on Wellington St. since 1929. He attended and graduated from Athol High School.
He worked for the former U.T.D. as a machinist and in the maintenance department. Went to work for the Town of Athol Highway Department for 8-10 years, then returned to U.T.D. under Litton Industries until it's closing in 1985, when he retired. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Mr. White played baseball for Athol High School and was a member of the State Championship team that played at Fenway Park. He also played softball for the U.T.D. team and enjoyed collecting coins.
He leaves one son: Stephen Z. White and his wife Barbara of Otter River; two grandsons: John White and his wife Elizabeth of Baldwinville, Matthew White of Otter River.
He was predeceased by his wife Mary L. (Batutis) White in 2011.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 101 Main St., Athol. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 9:30a.m. – 10:30 a.m. p.m. in the Fiske, Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Edward’s memory to the Quabbin Valley Activity Fund, 821 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, MA 01331.
