Edward Joseph Wojnas, born July 31, 1935, in Athol, Massachusetts, passed away on February 23, 2024.
Known for his service in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, Ed led a life marked by dedication and hard work. Following his military service, Ed while working at Fitchburg Paper earned his college degree from Fitchburg State College. He utilized his education to continue to contribute to his country, working on Radiological Maintenance at Fort Devens for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. His expertise led him to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Idaho National Environmental & Engineering Lab. He concluded his career traveling for FEMA to federal disaster areas to support the local community.
Ed was a beloved husband to Rita Wojnas of 68 years and a loving father to David (Beth) Wojnas, Joseph (Sarah Abby) Wojnas, and Debra (James) Rouleau. He was also a cherished grandfather to Kate Marie (Matt) Amdur, Lucas John Wojnas, Custis Joseph Wojnas, and Julie Meriam Wojnas, and a great-grandfather to Bayley Ann, Beatrice, Laura, and Charlotte Jane Amdur. His love for his family was evident in his joy of in watching his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Ed also enjoyed bringing coffee to the boys.
Ed was preceded in death by his parent Zigmond and Amelia (Balchuinas) Wojnas, and brother James Wojnas. Ed's life was a testament to this, through his service to his country, his work in nuclear power, and his dedication to his family.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA 01475.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Edward's name to the Montachusett Veteran's Outreach, 268 Central Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
The Mack Funeral Home, 105 Central Street, Gardner, MA 01440, has been entrusted with Edward's funeral arrangements.
