FLORAL CITY, FL - Edwin Leroy Rand, 89 of Floral City, FL, died Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at home.
He was born October 27, 1932, in Orange, MA to Eben M. Rand and Emma C. (Ball) Rand.
Mr. Rand grew up in Orange, where he graduated from Orange High School in 1950. He married Lorraine Ann Desseau on October 25, 1952. He was employed by L.S. Starrett Company from 1953 to 1965 where he worked as a Tool & Gauge Maker. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953, where he served until 1955 as a Medical Corp Man in the 2nd Armored Division, stationed in Germany.
Mr. Rand moved to Burlington, VT in 1965 where he taught Machine Trades at Burlington High School until his retirement in 1988. He spent several winters in Florida with his first wife Lorraine, who passed away in November 1996. He then moved to Florida where he met his present wife, Glenna Dyer Rand.
He leaves his wife, Glenna of Floral City, FL where they resided at the time of his death. He is also survived by one daughter, Mary-Ann Johnson of Essex Junction, VT; two sons, Gary Rand of Homosassa, FL and Larry Rand of Floral City, FL; one sister, Leona Lapenas of Orange, MA; two grandsons, Josh and Chris Johnson of Essex Junction, VT; two granddaughters, Erika Johnson of Essex Junction, VT and Kirsten Wilson of Colchester, VT; one step-daughter, Regina Guerrero of Greenwood, AR; two stepsons, Joel McDonald of Greenwood, AR and Steve McDonald of Fort Collins, CO.
Mr. Rand was predeceased by his first wife of 44 years, Lorraine, by two brothers, Leslie and Earl Rand, by one sister, June Rand Girouard and by two stepsons, Ken McDonald and Michael McDonald.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June17, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange. Burial will follow in South Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2022 in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to be made in his memory to the Vermont Kidney Association or to the Special Olympics in Florida.
