GARDNER - Eileen C. Sisk, 80 of Gardner, died Friday, February 15, 2019 at home.
She was born in Arlington, MA, on December 13, 1938, the daughter of the late Jeremiah J. and the late Mary Ellen (Moore) Sisk.
Eileen was a resident of Gardner since 1940. She graduated from Sacred Heart School and Gardner High School with the Class of 1956. She received her B.A. in Education from University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1960, and her Master’s in Education in 1968.
She was a member of the Gardner Education Association, Massachusetts Education Association, National Education Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, a member of the Levi Heywood Memorial Library Board, the Gardner Museum, Fan Association of North America (FANA), a member of the Business and Professional Woman's Club. She was a long- time member of Sacred Heart Church and taught CCD for many years.
Eileen was a primary teacher in Baldwinville from 1960 to 1964, taught in Springfield from 1964-1968 and taught grades 1 and 2 in Gardner from 1968 until her retirement in 1994. She volunteered at Mount Wachusett Community College and worked and volunteered at the Hope House in Gardner.
She leaves two goddaughters, Ann Flanagan of Takoma Park, Maryland; Maureen Kane of New York City, NY and several cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary G. Sisk and Elizabeth A. Jean.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 25, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Annunciation Parish - Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be at a later date in St. John's Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held Monday, February 25, 2019 from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Levi Heywood Memorial Library – Children’s Department, 55 W. Lynde St., Gardner, MA 01440 or to the Catholic Charities Worcester County, 10 Hammond St., Worcester, MA 01610.
