ATHOL - Eldora M. (Savoy) Mallet, 96 of 821 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, died Friday, March 13, 2009 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol. She was born in Athol, on March 10, 1913, the daughter of the late Francis and the late Caroline (Roussell) Savoy. Mrs. Mallet grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School. She worked for the Erving Paper Mill, and the former Athol Comb Shop. She later worked at the former Athol Steak House where she was a well known waitress for many years. She was the bookkeeper at the Joseph A. Mallet & Son Inc. for over sixty years. She was a very active member of Our Lady Immaculate Church, and was part of the Church choir. On November 11, 2006 she was honored as Person of the Year by the Church of Our Lady Immaculate and Distinguished Veterans of which the award reads "In recognition of your faithful love and service to God, family, church and community." She leaves two sons, Paul F. Mallet and his wife Sheila of New Salem, Joseph A. Mallet, Jr. and his wife Isabel of Athol; three brothers, Paul Savoy and his wife Colleen of Athol, David Savoy and his wife Georgette of Bellow Falls, VT, Edmond Savoy of Springfield, MA; ten grandchildren, Aron Mallet and his wife Kathy of Athol, Kathleen Foster of Athol, Patricia Hutchinson and her husband Mike of Athol, Peter Mallet and his wife Tricia of Navarre, FL, Elizabeth Bergquist and her husband James of Athol, Sheryl Astrella of Orange, Kevin Mallet and his wife Gwenn of Potsdam, NY, Brian Mallet and his wife Tammy of Claremont, NH, David Mallet of New Salem, Michael Mallet of New Salem; fourteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Joseph A. Mallet who died in 1989, by her son, Robert Mallet who died in 1957, and by her grandson, Daniel Mallet who died in 1998. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Monday, March 16, 2009 at 10:00 am in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday, March 15, 2009, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. at the Fiske Funeral Home 1356 Main St., Athol. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331 or to a charity of one's choice.
