GARDNER- Elizabeth A. (Fletcher) Lajoie, 85, of Gardner, formerly of Templeton, died Wednesday, November 26, 2014 in Wachusett Manor after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born October 4, 1929, in Winchendon, daughter of the late Irving and Christine (Lawrence) Fletcher. She grew up in East Templeton and graduated from Templeton High School. Mrs. Lajoie worked for New England Telephone. She then was a bus driver for over 25 years working for B. Pokki Bus Company, Henshaw Bus Company, and then Heritage Bus Company before her retirement.
She was a former member of the East Templeton Methodist Church. She enjoyed walking, baking, and vegetable gardening, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren.
Her husband, Ralph T. Lajoie, died in 2001. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Forrest and Harold Fletcher.
She leaves two sons, Steven Lajoie and his wife, Linda, of Savannah, GA, and Jeffrey Lajoie and his wife, Lisa, of Fitzwilliam, NH; one daughter, Jayne Boris and her husband, Chuck, of Gardner; five grandchildren, Elyssa and Nicole Boris, both of Gardner, Mitchell and Jenna Lajoie, both of Fitzwilliam, NH, and Jon Lamoreaux and his wife, Jenn of CT; two great grandchildren, Mason and Lucy Lamoreaux; one brother, Lawrence Fletcher of Baldwinville; her lifelong best friend, Norma Smith of E. Templeton; several nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, December 2, at 12:30 P.M. in Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Templeton.
Calling hours will precede the funeral, Tuesday, December 2, from 11:00 A.M. - 12:30 P.M. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Life Choice Hospice, 15 Midstate Drive, Auburn, MA 01501, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 128 Providence St. #5, Worcester, MA 01604.
