Elizabeth L. (Hager) Fruit, 86 formerly of 4 Sunrise Lane, died Saturday at the Nashoba Medical Center, Ayer following an illness.
Mrs. Fruit was born in Henderson, Kentucky on May 19, 1922 the daughter of Robert and Mattie (Hoops) Hager. She was a resident of Gardner for 56 years.
Mrs. Fruit was a volunteer at Heywood Hospital for many years. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Gardner. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family.
Her husband, Edward W. Fruit, died on July 15, 2004.
She leaves two sons, Ronald E. Fruit of Fitchburg, and John M. Fruit of Templeton; four daughters, Marilyn J. Sbrega of St. Augustine, Florida, Linda L. Sargent of Westfield, Janet E. Cochran of Lancaster, and Theresa A. Green of Somersworth, New Hampshire; a sister, Emma Barnes of Henderson, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Lisa Fruit who died in 2000.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, 166 Cross Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, April 14 from 6-8 p.m. in the Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon Street, Gardner.
