Elizabeth R. "Nana" (Elwell) Wright

Elizabeth R. Wright Athol – Elizabeth R. (Elwell) “Nana” Wright, 89, of 739 Daniel Shays Highway, died Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the Baldwinville Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.      Elizabeth was born April 21, 1924 in Athol, Massachusetts, the daughter of Merle and Hattie (McLean) Elwell.  She has lived in Athol all of her life and attended Athol schools.         Nana was a member of Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church, enjoyed cooking and traveling, especially to Vermont watching the wild animals.  She has always been one with a great sense of humor and many words of wisdom.  Most of all Nana loved being around her family, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.        She leaves two sons; William Wright and his wife Barbara, Robert Wright and his wife Carol and a daughter, Barbara Smith and her husband Clinton, all of Athol; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; and a brother Clarence Elwell of Athol and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband of 32 years Anton Wright who died December 10, 1972, her daughter Betty Jane Johnson, four brothers, a sister and a grandson William.      A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Silver Lake Cemetery (Silver Lake Street entrance).
