ATHOL- Elizabeth Ann (Daley) Paulin of Athol, MA; Berwick, ME; and most recently of Worcester, MA, went to be with her Lord and Creator on July 27, 2017, after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Elizabeth was born in Boston on July 13, 1931 to Timothy James Daley of Fitzwilliam, NH and Catherine Frances (Shannon) Daley of Boston. She graduated from Athol High School with the class of 1949. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from Carney Hospital School of Nursing in Boston in 1952.
She worked at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston before joining the staff at Athol Memorial Hospital as a maternity nurse. She married the dearest man in her life, Clarence J. Paulin of Athol, on October 9th, 1954, and together they raised a family of ten children.
Elizabeth later returned to college, receiving her BA from UMass/Amherst in 1982. She then returned to nursing, this time at the opposite end of the spectrum, caring for the elderly.
Elizabeth loved life and joyfully accepted every day that the Lord sent her. She would often point out that “God is still in charge.” She was a communicant at Our Lady Immaculate Church and St Francis Church in Athol most of her life, and later at St. Martin Church in Somersworth, NH.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her older sister, Jeanne Shannon-Daley of Petersham.
She is survived by her dear husband of 62 years, Clarence; her children, James Paulin (Alaska); John Paulin (California); Jacqueline Mueller (Maine); Justin Paulin and his wife, Oren (Connecticut); Jamie Harrington and her husband, Eamon (Ireland); Jeanne Gifford and her husband, Scott (Boylston); Joseph Paulin of Boston; Jeremy Paulin (Illinois); Jesse Paulin and his wife, Dinna (California); and Joshua Paulin and his wife, Ana (Worcester).
She also leaves behind her much-loved grandchildren, Timothy and Johanna Mueller; Elise (Gifford) Barry and her husband, Paul, and Jonathan Gifford; Jesse, Richard and Ana Harrington; Elizabeth Paulin; Luciana Paulin; and one great-grandson, Noah Barry; her younger brother, James Daley and his wife, Carolyn (Westfield); and many beloved siblings-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The Paulin family wishes to thank Micha Shalev, Ben Herlinger, and all the staff at the Oasis at Dodge Park in Worcester for their excellent care of Elizabeth during her last months. The level of care, support and affection for Elizabeth were second to none.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, July 30 from 2:00 - 5:00 P.M. at Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street, Athol, MA on Monday, July 31 at 11:00 A.M. Burial to follow immediately at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon.
