LEOMINSTER..... Emelie Marie (Gionet) Cormier 93 of 20B Cheryl Drive Leominster, died Thursday January 1, 2009 at home after an illness.
She was born July 25, 1915 in Shirley MA the daughter of the late Francis Gionet and Marie (Hachey) Gionet and came to Leominster many years ago.
She leaves two sons, Dennis Cormier and his wife Maria of Maynard, Donald Cormier of Winchendon; two brothers, Norman Gionet of Winchendon and Ronald Gionet of Santa Anna California; two sisters, Gloria Sullivan of Leominster and Annette Reese of Painted Post New York; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Her husband of 65 years, Oliver Louis Cormier died in 1997. She was predeceased by her four brothers, Omer Gionet, Theodore Gionet, Raymond Gionet, Octave Gionet; and by four sisters Beatrice Lambert, Leonie Forrest, Sylvia Rakip and Corrine Farnsworth.
Mrs. Cormier was a member of St Cecilia's Church in Leominster.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
The funeral will be held Monday January 5, 2009 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St Cecilia's Church 180 Mechanic St Leominster MA. Burial will be private in St Cecilia's Cemetery Leominster MA.
Calling hours will be Monday January 5, 2009 from 8:45am-10:45am in the Simard Funeral Home 14 Walker St., Leominster.
Please omit flowers, the family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the MSPCA-Angell Attn: Donations 350 Huntington Avenue Boston MA.02130 and may be left at the funeral home.
