ENIDE E. (MINER) STEVENS
ATHOL- Enide E. (Miner) Stevens, 76, of 135 Pleasant Street, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, in Athol Memorial Hospital, following an illness. Her husband, Etna Stevens died in 1989. She leaves a daughter, Delight Cox and her husband, Tal Cox of Athol; her mother, Ada Miner of Bernardston; a sister, Nancy Parsons of Billings, Montana; five grandchildren, Rob Manjourea, Dan Manjourea, Tim Manjourea and DeAnne Chong, all of Athol, and LeAnne Killay of Orange; six adopted grandchildren: Jon Cox, Dave Cox, Josh Cox, Buzz Cox, Chris Cox, and Kevin Cox, all of Athol; 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Raymond Miner.
She was born in Northfield, MA, April 26, 1925, a daughter of Herman and Ada (Dresser) Miner, and was raised and attended schools there. She had resided in Athol since the early 1940's.
Mrs. Stevens had worked at the former J. F. MacElwain Shoe Company many years ago. She then was a housewife and stayed close to home with her family. She enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing and gardening. She also enjoyed caring for her cats and dogs, and was an avid bird watcher. She was part of six living generations in her family.
The graveside service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002 at 11 a.m. in Highland Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 12 noon in the Mission Covenant Church, 53 Pleasant Street, Orange. A reception will be held in the church hall following the service.
There are no calling hours.
