ORANGE - Ernest J. Obue, 76 of 519 East River St., Orange, died Wednesday, May 16, 2007 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol.
He was born in Athol, on December 31, 1930, the son of the late Albert and the late Madeline (Caisse) Obue.
He grew up in Athol and was educated in Athol. Mr. Obue was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U. S. Navy.
He was employed by the L.S. Starrett Company for over thirty years. He was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending with his grandchildren, fishing, the ocean and he enjoyed traveling.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Theresa M. (Gallant) Obue, four daughters, Susan M. Farley of Athol, Nancy A. Elliott of Orange, Anita P. Obue of Greenfield, Linda J. Bramhall and her husband Dennis of Orange and two sons, Michael J. Obue and his wife Elizabeth of Feeding Hills, MA, Laurence J. Obue of Broomfield, CO; a daughter in-law, Lori Obue of Athol; one brother, Albert Obue Jr. of Manchester, CT; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his sister, Jeanne Greene.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 12:00 pm in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will be priavte.
Calling hours will be held Saturday from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home 137 Main St., Athol.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Davita Dialysis Center 551 Electric Ave., Fitchburg, MA 01420.
