Esther (Morandi) Hoxie

Esther Hoxie Athol – Esther (Morandi) Hoxie, 89, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Lutheran Rehabilitation in Worcester.      Esther was born in Athol, MA, on August 4, 1925, the daughter of Angelo and Mary (Emanuelli) Morandi.  She lived in Athol all of her life and attended Athol schools. Esther married the love of her life, Jack G. Hoxie, on June 25, 1955, and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage until Jack's death on January 16, 2015.   Esther was a homemaker and worked in the Anson Shoe Shop in her younger years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, loved to dance in her younger years and always loved and rescued animals.      She leaves two daughters, Karen Hoxie of Athol and Lynn Brothers and her husband Pete of Holden; a granddaughter, Mary Brothers; a brother, Richard Morandi and his wife Mary of Athol and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her sister Linda and three brothers, Edward, Ernest and Aldo.     At Esther's request, no services are planned and a private burial for both Esther and Jack will be at Gethsemane Cemetery at the convenience of the family.   Those wishing to make a contribution in Esther's name may be made to the Athol Animal Shelter, for animal care, c/o the Athol Police Department, 280 Exchange Street, Athol, MA 01331.  Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol is directing arrangements.  For further information or to share a memory with the family go to: www.higginsoconnorfuneralhome.com.      $(document).ready(function(){ });
