NEWTON - Eunice Irene (LeBreton) Gooley, 87, of Newton formerly of Athol, died Monday, September 3, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in West Newton. Eunice was born in Petite Riviere-de-I”ll, New Brunswick, Canada, on June 6, 1925, the daughter of Joseph and Petronille (Gionet) LeBreton.  She was raised in Athol and graduated from Athol High School with the class of 1943.  She was a resident of Athol for seventy-nine years until 2004, when she moved to Broadview Assisted Living in Winchendon with her husband.   Many years ago, Mrs. Gooley worked for the L.S. Starrett Company and then Mass Electric as a clerk from 1946 to 1959 before becoming a homemaker to care for her family.  Upon her husband's passing in 2006, Eunice moved to Newton Centre to be closer to her son.  She was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church in Athol and loved to cook.  Eunice enjoyed traveling with her husband after his retirement and took many bus trips around the United States and Canada. She leaves her son, Michael Gooley and his wife Toby of West Newton; two sisters, Rita Rayner of Athol, and Ceil Hunter of Satellite Beach, FL; her granddaughter, Dana Gooley of Newton; also many nieces and nephews. Eunice was predeceased by her husband of forty-seven years, Robert J. Gooley, on June 16, 2006; by her brother, Norman LeBreton, in 1976; and by her sister, Evelyn Bacon, in 2002. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol.  Burial will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery in Athol. A calling hour will be held Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331.
