Eunice M. Green

July 17, 1933 — January 21, 2025

Hubbardston

Born on July 17, 1933, in Medford, MA as Mariam Eunice Green, but lovingly known to friends and family as Eunice or Aunt Eunie, passed away on January 21, 2025, of natural causes with family by her side at the age of 91. Eunice was predeceased by her parents Kenneth and Birdella Green, her sister Barbara Roberts (Fredrick) and brother Kenneth Green, Jr. (Shirley). She leaves behind nieces Cheryl Green and Lisa Roberts-Alward (Richard), nephews Mark Green (Kathleen), James Roberts (Beth), and Gregory Roberts (Maya), along with ten great-nieces and nephews.

Eunice grew up in Hubbardston, MA, and continued to reside there throughout her lifetime. She graduated from Gardner High School in 1950 and built a rewarding career as a bookkeeper at Gardner Screw Co. for the next 65 years; retiring in 2015. On her lunch breaks she became a regular at both Friendly’s and Almy’s. Eunice stayed close to home and was a dedicated care-giver to her father during his elder years. She also kept herself fit and energized with daily walks up and down High Street saying hello to friendly dogs and neighbors. Eunice believed it was important to take part in town politics and attended many town meetings, and was an active member of the Hubbardston Cemetery Commission for many years.

Eunice was an avid reader, she enjoyed a good mystery and keeping up with gossip magazines. A nice evening was enjoying a glass of Chardonnay and watching old TV shows such as British comedies- Keeping up Appearances and Westerns such as Gun-Smoke.

There were many years of traveling to visit with family and friends on Cape Cod and Quebec. She loved the Tea House on Main Street and enjoyed collecting pretty teapots, cups, and dishes and listening to Andrea Bocelli. She always kept a tidy home and took pride in decorating for each holiday and season. Eunice loved people and animals and was a generous giver to charities and causes. She had an unyielding sweet tooth and would never say no to chocolates or freshly baked sweet bread. She always had her hair perfectly permed and set and adorned herself with cute pins and statement jewelry for special occasions.

Eunice’s wish was to be in her home for as long as she could. Her wish was granted with assistance from family and her wonderful neighbor’s “The High Street Gang” who checked in on her periodically; bringing her warm meals and retrieving her mail.

A celebration of life will be held early summer. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Hubbardston EMS and Police Department who were always there when she needed them.
