GARDNER - It is with great sadness that the family of Evelyn B. (LaBossiere) Baczewski announces her passing on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at the age of 86, from congestive heart failure.
Mrs. Baczewski was born on March 11, 1931, in Gardner, daughter of the late Wilfred and Angeline (Tourigney) LaBossiere. She attended Gardner and Templeton schools. Her greatest joy was caring for children. She was a homemaker, raising her 15 children, and providing daycare to many of her family and friend’s children over the years.
Evelyn “Evie” enjoyed the ocean, singing, dancing, reading and traveling. She was also a member of Holy Rosary Church/Annunciation Parish. Evelyn expressed her love through cooking and baking, loved her family, her cats and extended family’s pets. She had a wonderful smile that could light up a room and an infectious personality that left a lasting impression on all those she encountered. Everyone was warmed by her sweet, gentle, kind and humorous nature.
Her husband, Constantino “Mickey” Baczewski, passed away in 1999. She was also predeceased by her sister, Lorraine DeGrace.
She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her 15 children, Marcella “Marci” Baczewski of East Granby, CT, Barbara Vosdagalis of Worcester, Rose Marie Capasso of Rockledge, FL, Kathleen Baczewski of Gardner, Michael Baczewski of Rochester, NH, Brian Baczewski of Gardner, Steven Baczewski of Tallahassee, FL, Debra Baczewski of Ware, Pauline Baczewski of Fitchburg, John Baczewski of Damascus, MD, Elaine Bouchard of Templeton, Paul Baczewski of North Charleston, SC, Joseph Baczewski of Phillipston, Russell Dion of Wheat Ridge, CO, and Lynne Kelly of Danbury, CT; 17 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and her dear friend Pat Morrissey of Templeton who she adored and brought great joy to her later years.
Calling hours are Saturday, December 9, 2017, from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at Lamoureux-Smith & Poliks Funeral Home, a Mack Family Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow Saturday, December 9, at 11:00 AM at Holy Rosary Church/Annunciation Parish, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
