Evelyn B. Richards
Athol – Evelyn (Bisbee) Richards, 96, of 142 Columbian Avenue, died Sunday, December 25, 2011at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare.
Evelyn was born in Athol, Massachusetts on December 18, 1915, the daughter of Arthur S. and Blanche M. (Holton) Bisbee. She has lived in Athol all of her life, graduating from Athol High School in 1933. She worked at the Union Twist Drill-Division of Litton Industries for several years, the Athol Credit Union for six years, but was mostly a homemaker.
She was a member of the Rainbow Girls, serving as Worthy Advisor of the Athol Chapter, Grand Worthy Association Advisor for the Grand Assembly of Massachusetts, Mt. Grace Chapter of AARP, the Athol Golden Age Club, Orange Friendly Circle of the Blind and the First Church Unitarian of Athol. Evelyn enjoyed cake decorating, knitting and crocheting.
Her husband of 50 years, George W. Richards died in 1991. She leaves two sons; George W. Richards and his wife Janet of Lawrenceburg, IN and Alan R. Richards and his wife Teresa of Pulaski, NY; a brother, John Bisbee and his wife Arlene; a sister, Helen Kennedy and her husband Russell, both of Athol; four grandchildren; Dr. Cristin Richards of Freeport, ME, Kelly Banach of Lacona, NY, Cara Montgomery of Freemont,CA and Derek Richards of Pulaski, NY; four great grandchildren, Brandon and Kolby Banach of Lacona, NY, Logan Montgomery of Freemont, CA and Dawson Richards of Pulaski, NY. She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and James Bisbee and two sisters, Ruth Johnston and Jean Rand.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol, MA with the Rev. Marilyn Richards, pastor of the First Church Unitarian officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery and there will be a calling hour from noon until the time of the service.
