ATHOL - Evelyn E. (Preble) Bouchard, 84 of 418 Main St, Athol, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol. She was born in Petersham, on August 10, 1924, the daughter of the late Arthur and the late Ruth (Barnes) Preble. Mrs. Bouchard grew up in Petersham and graduated from Petersham High School. She worked for the L.S. Starrett Tool Company, N.D. Cass Company, The Hathaway Shirt Company, and after twenty years retired from the former Duall Plastic Company in 1989. She was a member of the Gold Mother's Club following the death of her son in the Vietnam War. She enjoyed her retirement and spent her time reading, doing crossword puzzles, and watching soap operas on television. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family on special occasions. She leaves two sons, Robert F. Bouchard and his wife Marlene of Athol, James S. Bouchard and his wife Neusa of Petersham; two daughters, Sharon A. Batutis and her husband Paul of Orange, Brenda J. Wessell of Limington, Maine; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Willard J. Bouchard, Sr. who died in 2000; by her son, Willard J. Bouchard, Jr. who was killed in action during the Vietnam conflict in 1971, and by her two sisters, Margaret E. Coolidge of Athol, and Dorothy R. Rowe of Orange. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to American Cancer Society's, New England Division Office, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. $(document).ready(function(){ });
