ATHOL - Evelyn J. (Winch) Cook, 79, of 11 Gibson Drive, Athol, died Monday, March 7, 2011 at the St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.
Evelyn was born in Ansonia, CT, on March 1, 1932, the daughter of the late James H. and the late Helen (Cox) Winch. She grew up in New Port, RI and was educated in Providence, RI. She has been a resident of Athol for over sixty years. Mrs. Cook worked for the Union Tool Company in Orange and the former Brooks Drug Store for many years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was volunteered for Campfire Girls and Rainbow Girls programs. Evelyn enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She leaves two daughters, Jacqueline Johnson of Athol, Jill Brault and her husband Mark of Sandwich, MA; one brother, Donald Winch of Auburn; nine grandchildren, Jimi-Lee Johnson, Keith Johnson, Danielle Brault, Nicole Allen, Jennifer Brault, Christopher Brault, Blaine Moise, Krista Sargent, Aimee Brown; four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry L. Cook, in 1973; also by daughter, Hazel Sargent; a brother, James Winch, Jr.; and by two sisters, Catherine Phillips and Alice Patterson.
Funeral services will be held at Friday, March 11, 2011 at 12:00 pm in the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main Street, Athol. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Athol.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
