Evelyn (Wheaton) Fountain

Evelyn M. Fountain, age 89, of Athol died Friday, December 16, 2016 at Athol Hospital. Evelyn was born October 30, 1927 in North Adams. She is the daughter of the late Wilfred and the late Helen (White) Wheaton. She grew up in Readsboro, Vermont attending schools there and later moving to Orange attending Orange High School and since 1957 has resided in Athol. She worked for Erving Paper Mill for 13 years and Union Twist Drill for 8 years. Evelyn enjoyed dancing, crocheting and camping which she and her husband did from 1973 until 2000. She is survived by one daughter: Janice Lapinskas and her husband Ralph of Athol, and one son: Kevin Fountain and his wife Jean of Athol; one sister: Jane Merritt of Orange; She also has one granddaughter, Emily Lapinskas; and special neighbors, Jean and Roger Watts. She is predeceased by her husband Donald L. Fountain, brother, John Wheaton, and sisters, Luella Copeland, Frances Cloukey, and Janice McCormick. The funeral will be held Tuesday, December 20, at 11:00 A.M. at Higgin's O'Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol, MA with Rev. Mark Bariloni officiating. A calling hour will precede the funeral from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in Massachusetts, 1661 Worcester Rd., Suite 301, Framingham, MA 01701.
