Faith F. (Legrand) Cummings

Faith F. Cummings Athol – Faith F. (Legrand) Cummings, 91, formerly of West Chestnut Street, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare.      Faith was born in South Hadley, Massachusetts, July 9, 1920, the daughter of Eugene and Ellen (Beeler) Legrand.  She has lived in Athol since 1926, graduating from Athol High School in 1937.  She worked for the L.S. Starrett Company for 31 years, working in the micrometer room.      She was a member of the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church.  Faith was an avid reader, loved to sew and do crossword puzzles.  Her family has always been the most important part of her life and she always looked forward to family gatherings.      Her husband of 69 years, Norman S. “Bud” Cummings died May 15, 2008.  She leaves her daughter Dianne MacDonald and her husband Robert; son-in-law, Jack Cox; brother, Ronald Legrand and his wife Marilyn; four grandchildren, Kelley Armentrout, Dana Johnston and her husband Bill, Jay Cox and Tracey MacDonald and her husband Billy, all of Athol; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Besides her husband she was predeceased by a daughter, Jean Cox, an infant son, Richard and three brothers, Junior, Francis and Lester Legrand and a sister, Joyce Gray.      As per Faith’s wishes a private funeral service will be held at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol with the Rev. Adam Randazzo, pastor of Starrett Methodist and South Athol United Methodist Churches officiating.   There are no calling hours and burial will be at Silver Lake Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation in Faith’s name be made to the Athol High School Scholarship Fund, P.O.
