LEOMINSTER- Fleur Ange (Chapdelaine) Bachand, 91, of Leominster, died Saturday, May 12, after an illness.
Fleur- Ange was born July 28, 1926, in St.Victoire, Quebec, daughter of the late Euchariste and Attala (Leroux) Chapdelaine. She attended schools in Canada and immigrated to the United States in 1951 with her husband and young daughter.
Fleur-Ange was a person who pursued her dreams with a “can do” spirit that served her well throughout her life. She was generous with her time, always willing to help those in need. During her many years as an Avon lady, she truly enjoyed getting to know different people. She and her husband traveled throughout North America in their motor home, and all over the the world. Fleur-Ange was known for her love of flowers and plants. Her French Canadian heritage was very important to her and she was a woman of deep faith. She was a member of St. Cecilia’s Parish and along with her husband Guy, was a devoted volunteer for over sixty years. In her later years, she was also a member of Our Lady of the Lake parish.
Her husband of 60 years, Guy Bachand, died in 2007. She was also predeceased by her son, Ronald Bachand in 1968, her daughter, Lucie Russell in 1998, her grandson, Craig Hazzard in 1974, and her sisters, Alice Cantin, Juliette Charbonneau, Sister Annette Leroux, Helene Plourde, Irene Forget, and her brothers, Zephir, Rosaire, Reverend Ferdinand Chapdelaine, Roger, Romeo, and Leo Chapdelaine.
She leaves two daughters, Monique Greilich and her husband, William of Salisbury, and Denise Prince and her husband, Michael of Lewisburg, PA; nine grandchildren, Danielle Greilich of Salisbury, Nicholas Greilich of Essex, VT, Paul Greilich of West Palm Beach, FL, Julia Prince of Charlottesville, VA, Benjamin Prince of Lewisburg, PA, Thomas Prince of Lewisburg, PA, Brent Hazzard of Mesa, AZ, Courtney Hazzard of Leominster, and Leslie Russell of Dorchester; one great grandson, Santiago Blas of Salisbury and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank her many friends at Liberty Place for their kindness and support for the eleven years that she lived there.
Calling hours are Thursday, May 24, from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M. at Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster. The funeral will follow at 11:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial will be private.
