GARDNER - Flora E. (Janssens) Zarozinski, 89, of 35 Washington Street, Gardner, died Thursday, November 11, 2010 at home.
She was born in Wakefield on December 26, 1920, the daughter of the late Edward and the late Flora (Beane) Janssens.
Flora was raised in Wakefield and Gardner and graduated from Gardner High School with the class of 1938. Many years ago she worked for the former Heywood Wakefield Company. She held several other part-time jobs over the years at local department stores, the former City Market and Betty's Flower Shop. Flora was a member of the Heywood Wakefield Bowling League with her husband, Edward, in the 1980's. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed cooking and making pies. Flora was a fan of NASCAR and enjoyed playing cards, listening to music and singing.
She leaves one daughter, Cheryl A. Zarozinski of Gardner; one son, David E. Zarozinski of Hadley; and two brothers, City Council President Neil Janssens of Gardner, Frederick Janssens of Moreno Valley, California; four grandchildren, Donna Kingsley of Plattsburg, NY; James Zarozinski of Templeton, Tracey Dow-Woody of Woodrich, NY, Kathryn Zarozinski of Gardner; ten great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward S. Zarozinski, on December 23, 2007; also by two brothers, Leo Janssens in 2010, Rusty Janssens in 1991; and by two sisters, Marie Fred in 1972 and Rose Patria in 1990.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 166 Cross St., Gardner. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, November 14, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon Street, Gardner.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Heywood Hospital, 242 Green Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
