Florence B. White

TEMPLETON - Florence B. (King) White, 85, formerly of Gardner, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the Baldwinville Nursing Home. Mrs. White was born in East Boston on June 29, 1925, the daughter of the late John and the late Florence (Rush) King. Mrs. White was raised and educated in East Boston and has been a resident of Gardner for nearly sixty years. Several years ago, she worked for the former New England Telephone in Chelsea as an operator. Upon moving to Gardner, Mrs. White worked for the former GEM Crib and more recently worked for the former Sabatini Printing in Gardner. Florence loved being sarcastic to the wonderful staff and residents of Baldwinville Nursing Home, where she resided for the past five years. She enjoyed playing bingo, making crafts, watching old movies and selling tickets at the nursing home's fairs. Florence was very strong-willed and many people admired her zest for life. She held her strength until the end and never gave up. She will be greatly missed. She leaves two daughters, Christine Symonds of Templeton, Bernadette Deveikis of Templeton; one son, James White of Parma, OH; two sisters, Jeannie Pacheco of Saugus, Viola Zuchero of OR; two brothers, Jimmy King of East Boston, Bill King of WI; five grandchildren, David Bushee and Kellie Perkins of Gardner, Sara White of OH, David Symonds and Dana Symonds of Templeton; three great grandchildren, John Bushee and Kelsey Bushee of S. Royalston, Rebecca Bushee of FL; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Christopher White; also by her son, Robert White; by her grandson, John Bushee; by five brothers, John King, Robert King, Eddie King, Clifford King, Harold King; and by two sisters, Eleanor Leclair and Barbara Papandrea. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant St., Gardner. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Baldwinville Nursing Home Patient Activity Fund, 51 Hospital Road, Baldwinville, MA 01436. . $(document).ready(function(){ });
