ATHOL – Floyd LaFountain, 65, of Athol, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021 in UMASS Hospital, Worcester.
Floyd was born in Greenfield on January 27, 1956 to the late Victor B. LaFountain and the late Henrietta (Webster) LaFountain. He grew up in Las Vegas, NV and Athol. He worked for many years as a tire technician at Pete’s Tire Barn and also opened Floyd’s Day & Night Tire. He loved muscle cars like the mustang and classic cars. He was especially proud of his 1968 Ford Fairlane. He enjoyed watching car shows, Gunsmoke was his favorite, and the Three Stooges. The Wizard of Oz was his favorite movie. He looked forward to watching Street Outlaws each week. Floyd enjoyed spending time with his family, watching boxing, fishing and gardening.
He leaves his wife of 46 years: Glenda (Reed) LaFountain; two sons: Floyd LaFountain and his wife Claudia of Brandon, FL; Michael LaFountain and his companion April Amidon of Athol; two daughters: Tammie Hamel and her husband Jerry of Athol, Lisa Champagne and her husband Joseph of Orange; two grandchildren: William LaFountain, Katelyn LaFountain; one brother: Alfred LaFountain of Tucson, AZ; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Floyd was predeceased by his brother: Victor LaFountain of Las Vegas, NV and three sisters and their husbands: Delphine Woodard and her husband Derby of TX, Zena Root and her husband Jerry of Las Vegas, NV, Deborah Chapalonis and her husband John of Athol.
A funeral service will be held Monday, May 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol, Rd., Orange
A calling hour will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help defray the cost of the funeral to Mack Family Funeral Homes.
