ATHOL -- Frances "Babe" (Petrousky) Burgess, 67, of 83 Sanders St., Athol, died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at home.
She was born in Gardner, MA, on August 31, 1945, the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Inez (Morandi) Petrousky.
Babe attended Athol Schools and graduated from Athol High School with the class of 1963. She owned and operated hotels and restaurants in the Salisbury & Seabrook area. She was also the former owner of the Grand Pause restaurant in Orange before retiring. She was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church.
She enjoyed taking care of her nephew Joseph every day and loved animals. She took in and cared for many strays.
She leaves one sister, Catherine Riddell and her husband Chris of Royalston; two nephews, Joseph Riddell of Royalston, Timothy Petrousky of MD; one niece, Wendy Myers of VA; five great nieces; many cousins who all called her "Aunt Babe."
She was predeceased by her husband, Norman Burgess, in 2008 and her brother James Petrousky.
Funeral services will be held at Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange, MA. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Athol Animal Control C/o Animals Fund, 280 Exchange St., Athol, MA 01331
