LEOMINSTER- Francis R. Bryce, 88, of Leominster, died Friday, June 2, in Leominster Hospital, after an illness.
He was born April 29, 1929, in Fitchburg, son of the late Walter and Anna (Shank) Bryce. He served in the US Army. Mr. Bryce worked as a roofer, carpenter, and steel fitter, retiring in 1991. He decided to return to work at age 75, at Raynor in Westminster.
Mr. Bryce was a member of the Franco American Club. He was proud to march with them every year and was also a member of the color guard. He loved deep sea fishing.
His wife, Janet (Viens) Bryce, died in 1991. He was also predeceased by his granddaughter, Samantha Bryce, a great grandchild, and three brothers, Fred, Earl, and Edward Bryce.
He leaves five sons, David Bryce and his wife, Kathy of Athol, Douglas Bryce and his wife, Diane of Lunenburg, Walter Bryce and his wife, Gail of Gardner, Michael Bryce, and Corey Bryce, both of Leominster; two daughters, Lisa Antil and her husband, Langis of VT, and Cindy Bryce of Gardner; 11 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one sister, Charlotte Miles of Sterling; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Saturday, June 10, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM with the funeral following at 11:00 AM all at Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery.
