GARDNER- Francis Charles Colson, III, 31, of Chelmsford, formerly of Gardner, died Thursday, November 15.
Francis was born September 1, 1987, in Leominster, son of Francis C. Colson, Jr. and the late Doreen (Wyatt) Colson.
Francis played Leominster Pop Warner Football and was proud to do his part in bringing the team to the state championship. He graduated from Gardner High School. After graduation, Francis enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the AF Training Ribbon. He worked for the Veterans Administration after his discharge.
Francis enjoyed Motocross racing, watching his dad race, and as a kid, he enjoyed racing his dirt bike and going to the Motocross races with his brother in law, Billy. He also loved watching New England sports.
He leaves his father, Francis C. Colson, Jr. of Baldwinville; two sisters, Michelle Gavin and her husband, William of Gardner, and Katy Colson and her significant other, Justin Sousa of Fitchburg; four nieces and nephews, Abby Gavin, Ryan Gavin, Caleigh Quinn, and Zoey Sousa; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His mother, Doreen Colson, died January 26, 2018.
Calling hours are Monday, November 26, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Mack Family Funeral Homes, Lamoureux-Smith & Poliks Chapel, 105 Central St., Gardner.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 27, at 11:00 A.M. in Hillside Cemetery, Highland St., Townsend.
