Francis J. Posk
Athol – Francis J. Posk, 80, of 72 J Street died Thursday morning, October 20, 2011 at his home.
He was born in Gardner, Massachusetts, August 5, 1931, the son of Frank A. and Monica (Hendricks) Posk. He grew up in Athol where he lived all of his life, graduating from Athol High School.
Francis served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He worked as a lineman for New England Power and Massachusetts Electric Company for 36 years, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of the American Lithuanian Naturalization Club, the Franco American Naturalization Club and The Edward H. Phillips American Legion Post # 102. Francis was an avid hunter and fisherman and in the 1940’s was a body builder. He also enjoyed playing scratch tickets and loved spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 59 years, Marjorie T. (Parks) Posk; two sons, Robert Posk and his wife Gail, and Terry Posk and his wife Sally; two daughters, Debra Rice and her husband Brian and Pam St.Hilaire and her husband Ken, all of Athol; his grandchildren, Jeremy and Ashley Posk, Jamie Posk, Alan Coffin, Shelley Rice, Krista Sciucco, Andrew and Timothy St.Hilaire; great-grandchildren, Logan Posk, Hunter Sciucco and Taylor St. Hilaire and a niece, Monica Baker of Templeton. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert S. Posk and a sister Prisilla Smith
At Francis’ request no funeral services are planned. Those who wish to make a donation in Francis’ name may send to the Salvation Army-Athol Corps, 107 Ridge Ave., Athol, MA 01331.
