Frank J. Borelli, 88, of 42 Wendell St., Athol, died Saturday in Athol Memorial Hospital in Athol after being stricken ill at home earlier in the week.
He was born in Barre April 27, 1915, son of the late Salvatore and Mary (Neri) Borelli and lived in Barre before moving to Athol many years ago. His wife, Anna C. (Porcari) Borelli died May 15, 2000. Mr. Borelli was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II.
Mr. Borelli was employed with the former McElwan Shoe Co. of Athol and later with the former Union Twist Drill Co. prior to his retirement. He was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church in Athol and a life member of the Athol Lodge of Elks, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 650 in Athol and enjoyed gardening and sports. In his younger days, Frank really enjoyed hunting and fishing, but more recently derived much happiness from spending time with his family as they were all so important to him.
He is survived by two brothers, Rudy Borelli of Gorham, Maine and Salvatore Borelli, Jr. of Barre; three sisters, Jeanette Morrison of North Brookfield, Ann Roberts of Barre and Nori LaPerle of Leicester and twenty-two nieces and nephews. Four brothers, Tony Borelli, Nicholas Borelli, Louis Borelli and John Borelli predeceased him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from J. EDWARD MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 136 Main St., Athol, Wednesdsay, December 17 followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol at 11AM. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol. A calling hour will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 - 10:30 AM Wednesday.
