ATHOL - Frank A. Godish, 85, of 2082 Petersham Rd., Athol, died peacefully on Monday, May 10, 2010 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Athol, on March 24, 1925, the son of the late Frank T. and the late Anna (Vincent) Godish.
Frank grew up and attended schools in Athol. He served in the United States Navy during WWII as Seaman First Class, V-6 USNR.
Frank worked for many years at Athol Ford in the auto body shop and owned and operated his own auto body business from his home.
He was a member of the D.A.V. since 1963 and member of the Lithuanian Naturalization Club in Athol. He was also the head chef for all the infamous game feeds put on at the Lithuanian Club for over fifty years. He was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church in Athol.
Frank had a camp near the Canadian border where he enjoyed many years of fishing, hunting and cooking for all of his friends, comrades and fellow hunters.
He leaves his sister, Eleanor Gregg of Athol; seven nieces, Toni Phillips of Athol, Lori A. Mousseau of Athol, Kelly J. Perkins of Albuquerque, NM, Gina M. Godish of Gales Ferry, CT, Sheryl A. Skinner of Athol, Sharon D. Bernard of Templeton and Sharice R. Bourret of Gardner.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rita (Bourret) Godish, and by his brother, Leon Godish.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Those attending the Mass are requested to meet directly at the church.
Burial will be private for his immediate family at a later date.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Our Lady Immaculate Church Building Fund, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331 or to a charity of one's choice.
