Frank L. "Bud" Castine

Frank L. Castine, Jr. North Orange – Frank L. “Bud” Castine, Jr., 92, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Buckley Healthcare Center in Greenfield.      Bud was born in North Orange, MA, February 26, 1923, the son of Frank L. and Hazel (Chase) Castine, Sr.  He grew up in North Orange and Athol where he attended schools and has lived in North Orange most of his life.  He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.       Bud worked all his life in the family business, F.L. Castine Moving and Storage, still going into the office in his 80’s.  He and his wife traveled to 48 states in their motor home.  They enjoyed wintering in Barefoot Bay, FL for many years.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was always a very family oriented man.       His wife of 66 years, Marion E. (Riel) Castine died in 2008.  He leaves a son, Joseph W. Castine and his wife Linda of Greenfield, two daughters, Gail Lyman and her husband Richard of Barefoot Bay, FL and Lynn L. Lanou and her husband Harlan of Jensen Beach, FL and grandchildren, Melissa Kalinowski and her husband Christopher, Tracy Standring, Raina Hickman and her husband Michael, Richard Lyman, Jr., and his wife Tammy, Wendy Upham and her husband Darren, Deanna Subocz and her husband Brian, Peter Lyman and his wife Tiffany and Eric Castine.   He also leaves great grandchildren, Tucker, Addison and Spencer Hickman, Sydney and Lucas Upham, Jenna, Madelyn and Ella Subocz, Kaylee and Cameron Lyman, Jaden Melnik, Lauryn and Nolan Kalinowski, a brother, Donald Castine and his wife Clare of Athol and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Richard Castine.         Funeral services will be held Monday, May 11, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol with the Rev. Don Erickson, pastor of the Community Church of North Orange and Tully officiating.  There will be a calling hour from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service with burial will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made in Bud’s name to the Community Church of North Orange and Tully, 4 Creamery Hill Road, Orange, MA 01364.  For further information or to share a memory with the family go to: www.higginsoconnorfuneralhome.com.   $(document).ready(function(){ });
