ATHOL – Frank Thomas (Thom) Roberts, 64 of Athol passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Thom was born in Athol on June 11, 1951, the son of the late Stanley Roberts and Jane (Evashousky) Roberts.
He grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School with the Class of 1970. He has lived all his life in Athol, Orange and Royalston. Thom enjoyed music and dancing, traveling, camping, photography, history and his family. Thom also enjoyed genealogy. He was always happy to tell of the 48,000 plus names that he’s researched in his family tree.
He was proud of his Scottish heritage. He held the title of Lord Frank Thomas Gunn Roberts of Glencoe. Thom would dress in his kilt for special occasions. He was a member of the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church in Athol.
Thom leaves his wife of 9 years: Mary (Andrews) Roberts, two stepsons: Michael Martioski and his wife Trish of NH, David Martioski and his wife Talia of Westminster; one stepdaughter: Melissa Gibson and her husband Mat of Athol; nine step grandchildren: Michael C., Michael J and Cody of NH, Jalen and Layton of Westminster, Axonna, Damien, Zoey and Mathew of Athol; his mother Jane (Evashousky) Soderman of Athol; three sisters: Jani Roberts Fox and her husband Roy of Athol, Julianne Roberts Matthews and her husband Roland of Athol, Bobbi Gunn Bergert and her husband Jack of Orange; one brother: Timothy Gunn of NY; six nieces: Lisa Fritz and her husband Tom of Norfolk, VA, Brianna Haskins and her husband Matt of Athol, Sara Mifflin and her husband Mike of Athol, Kelsey Matthews of Athol, Rachel Fox of Salt Lake City, UT, Jacqueline Bergert and Dominic Hill of Greenfield; three nephews: Roland Matthews Jr. and his wife Tammy of Athol, Roy Fox Jr. and his wife Sarah of Athol, David Price and his wife Samantha of Orange; two great nieces: Alexandria Fritz of Norfolk, VA, Arianna Price of Washington; six great nephews: Jordan Matthews of Fort Leonardwood, MO, Justin Matthews of Athol, Roy Fox III of Athol, Kadien Price of Orange, Hunter Price of Orange, Camdyn Faneuf of Orange; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his father Stanley Roberts in 2009 and Frank Gunn in 1992.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church, Island St., Athol, followed by a gathering in the church hall.
