LEOMINSTER-------Fred J. Legere 86 of Leominster died February 13, 2012 in the Highlands in Fitchburg after an illness.
He was born September 6, 1925 in Lynn MA the son of the late Edmond Leger and Exelda (LeBlanc) Legere.
He leaves three sons, Ronald Legere of Leominster, David Legere and his wife Bonnie of Templeton and Richard Legere of Leominster, His brother; Yvon Leger of Leominster, and two sisters, Noella Roy and Emerise Girouard both of Canada; two grandchildren; Melanie Legere and Lori Legere and three great grandchildren; Chelsea Hughes, Bianca Wolfe and Sebastian Wolfe.
His loving wife Anna M. (Stacy) Legere died March 12, 2009.Four brothers, Eloi, Malcolm ,Aurele and Donald and four sisters, Bertha Goguen, Doris Leger, Lorraine Leger and Aldea Leblanc also predeceased him.
Mr Legere was a self employed carpenter in the Leominster area. He was a communicant of St Cecilia’s Church in Leominster and enjoyed fishing, sports, vacationing in Canada and was an avid Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins fan.
Fred was a US Army Veteran of World War 2 serving in the 527th MP Prison Guard Co. He entered the service December 23, 1946 and was honorably discharged December 16, 1952 attaining the rank of Corporal. He received the World War 2 Victory Medal and Army Occupation Medal.
A Memorial Mass for Fred and Anna will be held on Wednesday February 22, 2012 at 11am in St Cecilia’s Church 180 Mechanic St Leominster. Burial will follow in St Cecilia’s Cemetery.
