ATHOL - Frederick C. Fisher, 81, of 88 Goodale St., Athol, died Wednesday, February 4, 2009 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol. He was born in Athol on May 21, 1927, the son of the late Merton C. and the late Gratia R. (Reardon) Fisher. Mr. Fisher graduated from Athol High School with the class of 1947. He worked for the former Athol Manufacturing until it's closing in 1961. He then worked for the L.S. Starrett Tool Company as a truck driver, until his retirement in 1989. Mr. Fisher was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church in Athol, and also acted as an usher for the church. He was a superb dancer and an avid card player who will be missed at the many cribbage tournaments in the area. He leaves two daughters, Diane Fisher of Athol, Claudia Mallet and husband David of Orange; two sons, Bernard Fisher and wife Ann of New York, Bruno Fisher and wife Lucinda of Athol; one sister, Gratia Fisher of Athol; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Chiara T. (Berardini) Fisher who died on January 22, 2008. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial in Gethsemane Cemetery will be in the spring. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Our Lady Immaculate Church Building Fund, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331.
