GARDNER - Frederick A. Wiles Sr., of Gardner, died unexpectedly on
Friday July 1, 2011, at St. Vincent's Hospital, peacefully with his
wife and family by his side.
Fred was born on July 14th 1940 in Fitchburg to the late Stephen F.
Wiles & Alice (Spring) Wiles, he was a 1959 graduate of Leominster
High School. He had a long and happy marriage to his wife, Judith
(Maynard) Wiles, who unexpectedly passed away in 1999. They had three
children together, Joan Wiles Lyon, Deborah Wiles Raughtigan and
Frederick Wiles, Jr. He always said he was the luckiest man on earth
to have found true love for a second time, to his wife Gabrielle C.
Wiles, who was there by his side, always, until his passing.
Fred loved traveling with his loved ones, tinkering around the house
while teaching his grandson, Frederick Wiles III, his "tricks," and
watching his westerns. He ESPECIALLY loved to tell jokes and stories,
stories and jokes. He made a headstone for himself that reads
"Finally... A place the government can't tax or steal," a true glimpse
of his humor. Fred was always willing to help everyone he met and
touched the lives of so many over the years.
He held many jobs throughout his life, and was a truck driver for 26
years, working for many different companies, including RMJ, until an
accident forced him into early retirement in 1995. Fred was a
successful businessman, purchasing and managing many homes throughout
Gardner to provide for an easy and pleasurable retirement. He was a
member of the First Baptist Church in Leominster. Fred was also a
member of NAFCA chapter Squaw-No-Cook.
He leaves behind his wife, Gabrielle Wiles, his stepdaughter daughter
Cassandra Hulecki; his two daughters, Joan Wiles Lyon of Gardner,
Deborah Wiles Raughtington and her husband Joseph of Orange; his son,
Frederick Wiles Jr. and his wife Beverly of Gardner; three sisters,
Joan F. Pellerin and her husband Gerry of Leominster, Edith M. Wiles
of Longmeadow, Eva McGettigan of Greenville, NH; 8 grandchildren,
Crystal, Joann and Freddy Wiles III, Valerie Leblanc, Whitney and Nicole
Leblanc St. Pierre, Lisa Leblanc, Angela Nelson and Alisha Lyon;
many great grandchildren, Heavenly, Kalie, Emily, Jameson, Alexia,
Angelina, Colby, Abigale and Alivia; a sister-in-law, Nikki Croteau,
and he was also "UNCLE" to Kalaiyah. He also leaves behind his good
buddies, Joe and Geno Terrasini of Leominster, and many nieces,
nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his brother, Stephen "Forbes" Wiles Jr., and by
his sister, Joyce M. Rousseau; by his best friend, Bill Beaudoin; and by
his lap partner of about 14 years, Alice the cat, a friend to all who
passed in June. We know they, along with others, will be overjoyed to
see him again.
At his request, there will be a graveside service at Pine Grove
Cemetery in Templeton, on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
followed by a reception at the American Legion in Gardner to share stories and
celebrate his life.
Flowers may be sent or donations may be made to offset final expenses
in care of his wife, Gabrielle Wiles, 144 West Broadway, Gardner, MA
01440.
