GARDNER- Gail A. (Woodard) Duncklee, 76, of Gardner, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 9, at Quabbin Valley Health Care surrounded by family after a lengthy battle with dementia..
She was born April 12, 1940, in Gardner, daughter of the late William and Doris (Ladue) Woodard and lived in Gardner her entire life. Gail graduated from Gardner High School in 1958. She worked in customer service at Simplex Time Recorder for many years. retiring in 1994. She also worked at North Quabbin Family Physicians in Athol for several years. Gail was very involved in her community as a member of the First Baptist Church and former officer of the AARP and Gardner Golden Age Club. She was a volunteer at the Gardner CAC food pantry receiving the President's Award for volunteerism, recognized by the MA House of Representatives,in 2014 and also served as an election day poll worker.
She leaves her husband of 55 years, Douglas E. Duncklee of Gardner; two daughters, Kimberley A. Grosso of Gardner and Karen D. Perini and her significant other, Peter McEwan of Athol; a granddaughter, Paige L. McCrary of Cambridge; five grandsons, Michael V. Grosso and his wife, Kristen of West Warwick, RI, Joshua D. Grosso and his significant other, Tia Riley of Alstead, NH, Maks A. Perini, Kane W. Perini, and Kipp A. Perini, all of Athol; six great grandchildren, Gianna, Jacob, Isaac, McKenna, Gabriella, and Chloe; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 17, at 11:00 AM at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon. Reverend William Nash will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gardner Animal Shelter, 899 West Broadway, Gardner, MA 01440 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 100 North Parkway #105, Worcester, MA 01605.
