With a heavy heart, we share the news that Gary Hursey, born in Gardner, MA on April 15, 1959, passed away on May 20, 2024. A soul full of life, and a heart full of love, Gary was a beacon of joy and compassion, whose spirit radiated warmth that touched everyone he met. A dedicated truck driver for the City of Gardner, he carried out his work with the same passion and commitment that he brought to every aspect of his life. His jovial spirit and love for country western music brought life to every room he entered, and his love for bowling and motorcycles was unmatched. These were but a few of the many facets of Gary that made him the incredible person he was.
Gary was a proud and active member of the Eagles #747, the P.A.C.C., and was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus. His commitment to these organizations was a testament to his generous spirit and love for his community. He leaves behind his brother, Thomas Hursey; step-father, Joseph Bastarache; sister-in-law, Shirley Hursey; and several nieces and nephews. . He now joins his father, Van Hursey, Sr; mother, Evelyn Bastarache; brother, Van Jr; and sister, Nancy Guevin, who preceded him in death.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Mack Family Funeral Homes, 105 Central Street, Gardner, Massachusetts, 01440. A mass will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, Massachusetts, 01440. Burial will follow in the Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.
