PETERSHAM - George F. Brunelle, 87 formerly of 49 East Street, Petersham, died Saturday, December 8, 2012 in Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol.
He was born in Petersham, on September 19, 1925, the son of the late Albert S. and the late Marguerite (Barnes) Brunelle.
George grew up in Petersham and graduated from Petersham High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a communicant of St. Peter's Church. A member of the Petersham American Legion Post No. 415 where he served as Commander for five terms. He was a member of the Petersham Grange since 1943. He was a member of the Petersham Fire Department for over 53 years. He served as sexton of the Petersham Cemeteries for eight years.
George was Grand Marshall of the Petersham Memorial Day Parade for over fifty years. He was employed at the Union Twist Drill for several years, the Athol Highway Department, Christy Thomson Auto Parts and the Erving Paper Mill for several years.
He leaves four daughters: Bernice Lewis of North Carolina, Jeanine Pimental of Barre, MA, Denise Cooley of Barre, Janet Bramlage of Florida and one son: Bernard Brunelle of Port Charlotte, FL and step son, Steven Johnson of Athol; step son, Scott Johnson of Bradford, VT; step daughter, Kimberly Pinnock of Athol; sixteen grandchildren, three step grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marilee Burnham, daughter, Jackie Bronson, and by a sister, Kathryn Brunelle
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2012 with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, 18 N. Main St., Petersham. All those attending are asked to go directly to the church. Burial will be private at a later date in East Street Cemetery, Petersham.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home 110 New Athol Road, Orange.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to St. Peter's Church - Restoration Fund, 18 N. Main St., Petersham, MA 01366.
