George H. Buffington

George H. Buffington Jr., 95 of Athol, passed away Friday, March 12, 2021 in Leominster Hospital. George was born on June 30, 1925 in Somerville to the late George H. Buffington Sr. and the late Catherine (McLaughlin) Buffington. He grew up in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School. He graduated from Suffolk University and also Suffolk Law School. He has lived in Athol since 2006. Mr. Buffington was a WWII Veteran, serving as a Radioman in the Navy from 1943 – 1946. George worked as a sales representative for Johnson & Johnson for several years, and then operated his own business selling supermarket equipment until moving his family to Hebron, New Hampshire in 1971. While in New Hampshire he worked for the New Hampshire Division of Welfare until his retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, enjoyed gardening, camping, outdoor activities and time at the lake. He also enjoyed working around his home doing small repairs and tinkering. He is survived by one son: Ed Buffington of Greenfield, Mass. He was predeceased by his wife: Clara Buffington, son David and daughters Ellen and Kathy.
