BALDWINVILLE - George T. Horrigan, 82, of 99 Bridge St., Apt. 9D, Baldwinville, died Saturday, March 7, 2009 in the Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
He was born in Gardner on April 28, 1926, the son of the late Thomas W. and the late Clara E. (Bradley) Horrigan.
Mr. Horrigan grew up in Gardner and was educated in Gardner. He later resided in Templeton for many years, and has been a resident of Baldwinville for five years.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II as Seaman Second Class, receiving the American Theatre Medal, European Theatre Medal, and the Victory Medal.
Mr. Horrigan was employed by the former Heywood Wakefield for many years until it's closing. He then worked for the former Collier Keyworth until it was closed. After his retirement, Mr. Horrigan worked for the CAPS Collaborative School.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Gardner. He enjoyed airplane models, Navy ship models, and puzzles. He enjoyed traveling to Cape Cod with his family years ago, and visiting the Maritime Islands and Prince Edward Island.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Eleanor M. (Lawson) Horrigan; one son, David P. Horrigan of Shirley; one daughter, Deborah M. Horrigan of Myrtle Beach, SC; two sisters, Martha Fleming of Winchendon, Clara Austin of Lancaster, CA; one grandson, Bradley Horrigan of Myrtle Beach, SC, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glendale St., Winchendon.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to American Cancer Society's, New England Division Office, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
