ATHOL - George E. St. Hilaire, 80 of 185 South Athol Rd., Athol, died Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at home.
He was born in Berlin, N.H., on July 17, 1927, the son of the late Napolean and the late Pearl (Gracia) St. Hilaire.
He worked for the Athol Coal Company as a burner technician for forty-four years. He also worked as a meat cutter at Dwyers Market in Athol for eighteen years and tended bar at the Dery Bar for over twenty years. He was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church, and a member of AARP. He enjoyed western movies, especially John Wayne films, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He leaves one daughter: Bridget Shaw of Athol, four sons: George St. Hilaire Jr. of Plano, TX, Raymond St. Hilaire, Dell St. Hilaire and Kenneth St. Hilaire all of Athol; eleven grand children, many great grandchildren and one brother: Edmund St. Helaire of Petersham.
He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy (Rivers) St. Hilaire who died in 2004.
Funeral services will be private. No calling hours are scheduled.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331, or the Salvation Army, 107 Ridge Ave., Athol, Ma. 01331.
