ASHBURNHAM - Gerald Emile Cormier, better known as Gerry to friends and family, passed away at the age of 87, on September 25th, 2023. Born on March 6th, 1936 in Gardner, Massachusetts.  Although born and raised in Gardner, he moved to Ashburnham where he raised his family.  Gerry could light up any crowd whether young or old with his infectious humor and kind heart.

Gerry was a man of many talents and passions, his love for the outdoors evident in his enthusiasm for skiing, water skiing, fishing, biking, hiking, kayaking, camping, and motorcycling. His dedication to these activities earned him the title of Treasurer of the National Ski Patrol at Mt. Watatic.  He was a long time employee of Nichols and Stone until his retirement in 1997.  Yet, his most cherished role was as the devoted husband to Barbara. Celebrating 68 years of marriage, they built a life filled with love and laughter. As a loving father to Deborah, David, and Shirley, and a doting grandfather and great-grandfather, Gerald's reliability and love were the bedrock of his family.

Gerry's unique blend of charisma and dependability extended beyond his family and into his community.  Gerry was a proud member of Fossil Dudes at Mt. Wachusett, he contributed significantly to his community, always ready to lend a hand or share a joke. No matter the setting, Gerald's funny and engaging personality was a breath of fresh air, brightening the lives of those around him.

Gerry is survived by his wife Barbara, his children David (Betsy) Cormier, Deborah (Robert) Lacy, and Shirley (Michael) Medlin, grandchildren Harley (Stephanie Rakowski) Gardner, Jason (Amanda) Cormier, Patrick (Brittany) Cormier, Ross (Jessica) Cormier, Joseph (Alyssa Reynolds) Cormier,  Christopher (Shannon) Medlin and Katelyn (Ryan Maiola) Medlin,  great-grandchildren, Waylon, Aili, Layla, Hannah, Cole, Xavier and Aliyah.  He also leaves his siblings Normand (Barbara) Cormier, Diana Earl, and Yvette (Tom) Gustafson.  He was preceded in death by his grandson Derek Gardner, his brother Roger Cormier, his brother-in-law Butch Earl, and his parents Exilda and Irenee Cormier.

As we mourn the loss of a remarkable individual, we also celebrate a life filled with laughter, love, and adventure. Those who knew Gerry are invited to share their memories and upload photos on his memorial page. In these shared anecdotes and images, we keep the spirit of Gerald Cormier alive, a testament to a life well-lived and a man well-loved.
