Gerald M. Firth

October 9, 1941 — April 15, 2012

Gerald M. Firth Orange – Gerald (Jerry) M. Firth, 70, peacefully passed away April 15, 2012 surrounded by family at the Fisher Home of Hospice in Amherst, MA.      Jerry was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Jacob and Roxie (Andrews) Firth.  Jerry grew up in Sturgis, Michigan, graduating from Sturgis High School, then attending Tri State University of Angola, IN with a degree in electrical engineering.  Jerry served in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile and Berlin Crisis’ of the 60’s.      He then moved to Kokomo, Indiana and worked at Delco Electronics from 1966 to 1984 after which time he moved to Hopkinton, MA working for Bose Corporation from 1984 to 1994 with various positions, but primarily OEM Director at the corporate headquarters in Framingham, MA.      When Jerry was active he enjoyed fishing with his son on the Quabbin Reservoir and many rivers in Canada.  He spent time playing cards and pool with “the boys” of Athol.  In more recent times he totally enjoyed reading with his twin granddaughters and simply watching them grow up.      Jerry leaves his wife, Marilyn (Dorynek) of 41 years, a son, Gerald L. Firth and his wife Holly of Bloomington, MN, a daughter, Stephanie J. Barry and husband Sean of Hadley, MA, two grandchildren, Teagan and Taylor and a sister, Barbette Balcirak and her husband Dean of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI.        A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Immaculate, 192 School Street, Athol with the Rev. Richard Jakubauskas, pastor officiating.  Those attending the Mass are asked to go directly to the church.   There are no calling hours and burial with military honors will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery.  Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol is directing arrangements.  For further information or to share a memory with the family go to:  www.higginsoconnorfuneralhome.com.     $(document).ready(function(){ });
