Gerald M. Lord Athol – Gerald M. Lord, 63, of 14 Grove Street, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Athol Memorial Hospital after suddenly being stricken ill at his home.      He was born August 4, 1947, in Gardner, Massachusetts, the son of Arnold R. and Antoinette (Deleo) Lord.  He grew up in Gardner, attending Gardner High School, later moving to Athol where he lived most of his life.   Gerry served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War, worked at the former S. Bent in Gardner for many years and for Harrington and Richardson in Gardner from 1991 until his retirement in 2008.  He was a member of the Woodman’s Pistol Club in Athol, was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved riding his motorcycle, especially his Harley. Gerry loved the Lord and was a member of the Higher Ground Ministries in Gardner for many years. Gerry loved to spend time and was very proud of his son and daughter and his great pride was his grandson Caleb.            He leaves his son, Josh Lord and his wife Lindsey of Westerly, RI and his daughter, Mimi Lord of Orange; his grandson Caleb; two brothers, Paul Lord of Gardner, Ralph Lord of RI and his sister Robin Doyle of Gardner.        Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol.  There will be a service with military honors,  Friday, May 20, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon.   For further information or to share a memory with the family go to:  www.higginsoconnorfuneralhome.com. $(document).ready(function(){ });
