Geralda M. Duda

ATHOL - Geralda M. (Chiasson) (Frenette) Duda, 93 of Athol, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in the Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner . She was born in Athol on January 28, 1923, the daughter of the late Leon and the late Margaret Chiasson. She grew up in Athol, attended Athol schools and graduated from Athol High School with the Class of 1941. Mrs. Duda was a lifelong resident of Athol. She was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church, the Catholic Women's League, St. Anne's Society, Athol Golden Agers, AARP, and a life member of the Franco-American Nat. Club. She was previously employed by the former Union Twist Drill in Athol, then as a proof reader for the Athol Daily News. She leaves two sons: Paul Frenette and his wife Joan of Windsor, CT, Glenn Frenette of Athol; one brother: Claude Chiasson of Athol; three grandsons: Glenn Frenette II and his wife Tonya of Lowell, Daniel Frenette and his wife Tracy of Enfield, CT, Andrew Frenette and his wife Kasia of Mansfield, MA; two grandchildren, Stephanie Bachelder of Athol, Richard Bachelder and his partner Carol of Gardner; eight great grandchildren; her former daughter-in-law Brenda Frenette; her former daughter–in-law Marie Hale and her husband David; step children Kathy Bennett; Thomas, Charles, Steve, and Dennis Duda. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her first husband of 52 years: Raymond Frenette and her second husband Ferdinand Duda of 4 years; one sister: Ida Lozier of Athol; one brother: Gerard Chiasson of Royalston. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 5, 2016 at 10:00 am in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home in Orange, Ma.
